BBC Jeremy Vine Show

As featured today on the BBC Radio 2 Jeremy Vine show, a link will appear shortly so you can listen again.

Here is one of many funny stories I have to tell about my murder mystery experiences.

I was once presenting a Victorian murder mystery show in Portsmouth, in some catacombs, and I was playing the dead body.  As the guests all filed into this crypt to discover the body, I fired my fog machine from a remote hand-held controller to create a spooky atmosphere. Unbeknown to me, there was a smoke detector cleverly disguised somewhere in the Grade 2 listed brickwork and the fire alarm started blaring out!  There were no other actors in that room with me so dilemma! I am supposed to be dead! I had to open my eyes and wake up as a dead body and flap my arms about the room to disperse the fog! The noise eventually stopped, everyone had a good laugh and I continued the show as my newly improvised character; the GHOST of the victim!

Thankfully, everyone could see there wasn't a real fire but I had to open my eyes to double check.
